Solar Cooking Challenge!
The answer to both proper food preparation and true water purification is right above your head. Over the next few weeks you will harness the power of the sun to cook food and attempt to pasteurize water. Contrary to what many people believe, it is not necessary to boil water to make it safe to drink. Heating water to 65º C (149º F) will kill all germs, viruses, and parasites.[1] This process is called pasteurization and is used for water, milk and many other liquids.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Design a solar cooker capable of bringing 16 ounce ounces water to a temperature of to 65º C or 149º F.
GREAT ACHIEVEMENTS
Get your cooker to reach a temperature of over 200 hundred degrees
- Record the highest temperature in the class
- Store the most amount of heat for the longest time
- Be the fastest cooker to reach 149 degrees Fahrenheit
